OUR Mission

The North Atlantic Figure Skating Club (NAFSC) is a non-profit figure skating club which provides opportunities, community, and support for skaters to achieve their f club operates ociple that skaters of all ages, levels, and disciplines have the opportunity for success and growth in a safe, fun, and committed environment.  As a full member club of U.S. Figure Skating, we strive to provide programs and encourage participation across all disciplines, from recreational to competitive, allowing our skaters to practice, improve, and present their skills and achievements through a variety of skating opportunities.

Our Club

NAFSC is made up of skaters, coaches, parents and others who love figure skating.  Our goal is to promote the sport of figure skating at every level throughout the Greater Portland area and Southern Maine.  NAFSC was founded in 1997 and incorporated in 1998 and is home to over 100 members, both young and adult, including parents, skaters, coaches and judges.

U. S. Figure Skating Association (USFSA)

NAFSC is a member club in good standing of USFSA.  USFSA is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States.  It is composed of member clubs, collegiate clubs, school-affiliated clubs, individual members and Friends of Figure Skating.  NAFSC runs a learn-to-skate program based off the Learn to Skate USA introductory skating program endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey, US Speedskating, Special Olympics, and the Professional Skaters Assocation (PSA).  NAFSC proudly hosted the 2005 New England Regionals and the 2009 Synchro Nationals!

Family Ice Center

NAFSC's home ice rink is Family Ice Center (FIC).  FIC is located just north of Portland in Falmouth, ME.  It is Southern Maine's premier year round ice skating and community center.

 

New England InterClub Council (NEICC)

NAFSC is a member of the New England Interclub Council (NEICC) which is an association of figure skating clubs who individually belong to U.S Figure Skating.  The purpose of objectives of the NEICC are to improve, encourage, and advance figure skating in all its branches; to provide a forum for the exchange of information among its member clubs; and to provide a means for cooperative activities such as competitions, judges, and accountant schools, club education seminars and the publishing and dissemination of information.
