Group skating lessons are offered during five sessions from September through June on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. All classes are taught at Family Ice Center in Falmouth, Maine and are taught by professional instructors/coaches certified by the U.S. Figure Skating Association with assistance from NAFSC Jr. Coaches. Skaters are divided into groups by age and ability. Skaters will be tested as they progress through the program.
As of July 1, 2016, USFSA has rebranded their basic skills program into Learn to Skate USA. Learn to Skate USA Program:
As of June 1, 2016, USFSA has rebranded their Basic Skills program and it is now Learn to Skate USA. You can learn more about the changes at www.learntoskateusa.com.
Each year that you have registered with the NAFSC Learn to Skate Program, your lesson cost included the $12 membership fee for the USFSA Basic Skills Membership. Under the new Learn to Skate USA program, you have the option to register directly through the Learn to Skate USA direct registration link for this $12 membership fee ($1.00 processing fee will also be added on for this option) or continue to have NAFSC take care of the registration for you. If you choose to register directly with Learn to Skate USA, after that is done, you will be able to be directed to the link for our class offerings and sign up information. Because this might be a different and confusing option at first, please know that we will continue to process LTS class registrations in the manner in which we have always done and we are happy handle all sign ups and membership sign ups/renewals until we have a chance to provide education on the new system and train all parents that are interested in using it. Or we can continue doing it for you if you would like to continue in the way we have always done. We are here to make this transition as seamless as possible for everyone so that we can all continue to enjoy the great skating programs NAFSC has to offer!
Please take a few moments to check out the Learn to Skate USA Program and see all the changes! And please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! We are here to help!
