Late Spring 2023 Learn to Skate!

Thursdays April 27th - June 1st

Learn to Skate lessons will return in September 2023!

If you are Basic 5 or higher or an adult skater, check out our Summer Training Program for options through June, July, & August.

If you are below Basic 5 and wish to continue skating/training during the summer, please contact Kristin Andrews, Skating Coordinator, at sc@northatlanticfigureskating.org for options that might be available.

Thank you to everyone who skated with us for the 2022-2023 season and we can't wait to see you back on the ice in a few months.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Face Coverings are optional while inside Family Ice Center
  • Rental skates WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE
  • Adult (Beginner, 1-6) class is for all adult skaters of all levels.
  • All classes will not be pro-rated for late registrations or any missed classes
  • Spin Clinic participants must be Basic 5 or higher
  • Practice Ice is for skaters Basic 5 and higher & can be registered for under the monthly "Freestyle Ice" contract

Learn to Skate USA® Program:

You can learn more about the Learn to Skate USA® badge program at www.learntoskateusa.com.  Designed by U.S. Figure Skating, the Learn To Skate USA® Program is a top-quality ice skating program that serves the needs of both the recreational and competitive skater.  The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons until the time they reach their goals.  The entire program has special classes for all facets of skating including free skate, pairs, synchronized skating, Artistry in Motion, hockey skills, and so much more.  Whether the goal is to achieve Olympic fame or simply enjoy the recreational benefits of skating, the Learn to Skate USA® Program is the perfect place to start!

Registered Learn To Skate USA® skaters will receive:
  • An official Learn To Skate USA® membership card
  • A brightly colored record book with stickers to track progress

The North Atlantic Figure Skating Club's Learn to Skate Program is professionally designed to:
  • Provide a fun and safe skating experience for all levels of skaters, from beginners to advanced skaters.
  • Teach correct technique of basic skating elements.
  • Give participants the skills necessary to either skate for fun or move competently into the U.S. Figure Skating advanced test and/or competitive structure.
  • Promote health and physical fitness.

Group skating lessons are offered during five sessions from September through June on Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. All classes are taught at Family Ice Center in Falmouth, Maine and are taught by professional instructors/coaches certified by U.S. Figure Skating with assistance from NAFSC Jr. Coaches. Skaters are divided into groups by age and ability. Skaters will be tested as they progress through the program.

Each LTS registration with the NAFSC Learn to Skate program includes the $20 membership fee for the Learn To Skate USA® Basic Skills Membership.

A few reminders:

  • We are not able to pro-rate our badge classes.
  • Check with the Skating Coordinator for what specialty classes and/or practice ice are open for walk ons!
  • Practice Ice is for skaters level Basic 5 and higher
  • Registrations must be received and paid in full prior to the first skating day of session.
  • There will be a $15 late fee per skater for registrations not received by the deadline. Please pre-register!
