OFF-ICE STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CLASS
Class requirements: 9 years of age and older
*Must have a minimum of 5 people signed up or confirmed walk-on by 2pm on the day of class or the class will be cancelled*
Cost: $10 per class (pre-registration preferred; walk on available if class minimum is met and class is held)
Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays during summer training program 6:15pm-7:00pm
Place: FIC Pond House
Off-ice strength and conditioning is designed to improve athletic performance including enhancing the sport specific skills of figure skating. The class will be taught by a sports performance specialist. While fitness training and sports performance training share fundamentals, sports performance specialists require a unique skill set to help their clients perform at their competitive best. Sports performance specialists assist athletes in learning to perform at their peak. They train athletes in strength and conditioning, improving agility and flexibility, knowledge of general nutrition, as well as motivational techniques. Athletes will be assessed to find individual areas of need to improve personal athleticism. Classes will consist of numerous strength & conditioning exercises with each exercise having its own progression to enhance an athlete's performance.
